Reflexology is considered to be a form of ancient Chinese medicine involving treatment by massage of reflex areas found in the feet. Every part of both feet corresponds to a part of the body with the right foot representing the right side of the body and the left foot representing the left side of the body. There are reflex areas on the soles of the foot, the top of the foot and on the sides of the foot and the reflex areas (reflexes) are arranged to form a map of the body in the feet. There are similar reflex areas found in the hands.

What to Expect from Treatment

Reflexology is a very easy therapy to receive; the most clothing that will have to be removed for a treatment to take place will be your socks and shoes. The first appointment is longer and you will be asked about your health history. The reflex areas will be massaged in a particular way using the hands and mainly the thumbs. You may feel areas of transient discomfort during the treatment, but generally the experience should be relaxing. Professional reflexologists do not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe. Reflexology is a very individual treatment which works with you holistically, helping the body to restore balance naturally.

How will I feel after reflexology treatment
